William O. “Bill” Green
1940-2020
William O. “Bill” Green, only child of W.O. Green, Jr. and Audine Wright Green was born January 7, 1940, and passed from this life March 18, 2020. Bill graduated from Enid High School, Enid, Oklahoma and earned his undergraduate and his Juris Doctorate degrees from the University of Oklahoma. He served in the U. S. Airforce, including service in Vietnam as staff judge advocate. Dill started a private law practice in Enid before becoming a district judge for the State of Oklahoma. He was a member of the Oklahoma Benchbook Committee who wrote the Oklahoma Criminal Benchbook.
Before retirement he worked in environmental law for a corporation. Bill’s love of art and creativity were evident in his music, community theatre roles, and oil paintings.
He used his gift of encouragement to lift up family, friends, and strangers. His desire for all individuals to feel valued was rooted in his deep faith in Christ.
Surviving Bill are his wife of 51 years, Mary Bingham Green, and his three sons, Matthew B. Green (Melissa Thomas – fiancé), Norman, OK; Mason A. Green (Paula), Cumming, GA; Aaron W. Green, Edmond, OK; grandchildren, Kailie, Brady. And Eden Green; Savannah Green; and Sydney and Griffin Sergot.
Bill was very proud of his family.

Viewing will take place at Matthews Funeral Home Saturday, March 21 from 10 am – 8 pm and Sunday, March 22 from 12 pm – 6 pm.
I was a neighbor of Bill’s up the street and met him on one of his many walks. Always glad to see him and always had a good outlook on the day. He will be missed and bless him on his walk to heaven.

mary and family and the community…Bill was not only one of the best people ever born..with only good inside…but he was a courageous judge who led the reform of the court system in enid. Before Bill was appointed judge, there was oppression and favoritism by the bench. Bill was fair to all, showing no favoritism for anyone, He also knew how important it was for justice to not be delayed, and pushed all to resolve their cases without delay. He believed that justice delayed was justice denied and felt that it was important to announce the result of a case in front of litigants when they were still present in court. He was rare…particularly in the day that we live and will be missed by friends as well as the society at large….

Bill was a well liked member of our Enid High Class ’58. Our sincerest thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
Bill and I lived about 3 blocks from each other in Enid, attended Longfellow Jr. High and Enid High together and graduated in 1958. We went to OU, joined the Acacia Fraternity, roomed together and made and shared many great memories. He was in my wedding. After receiving our undergraduate degrees, I went into the Army and Bill went to law school. We both served in Vietnam (I in the Army and Bill in the Air Force). My only regret is that we kinda lost close contact and making more memories! See you on the other side great friend. Blaine

I knew bill through our life church Men’s Life Group and every time I met with him he came with inspiration and joy and just the sunshine about him didn’t know him a whole lot but sure enjoyed listening to him and talking with him thank you I am deeply sorry Mary for your loss and for everybody who got the time to spend with him and enjoying all his wisdom and enjoyment and I’m sorry for your three boys
Mary I know I’ve text you a lot this is gonna be my last Thought of the Honorable Judge Bill Green When Bill was that his last Men’s Life Group at Danny’s he told us his situation and also told us we had one to three months to live and he did that with the same smirky smile on his face the same that was showing through when I viewed thank you Bill Green your spirit will live on
Bill was an amazing man. So compassionate and caring to all those around. His smile and humor was contagious. It was an honor to have known him. I pray for you Mary and your family, so sorry for your loss.
