Mary JoAnn Chapman
1935 – 2020
Mary JoAnn Chapman, age 84, passed away peacefully March 18, 2020 at Integris Hospice House in Oklahoma City. She was born October 5, 1935 in Hydro, Oklahoma to Clifford and Ethel Coker. She met and married Paul Chapman in May, 1953 and they were happily married almost 58 years before Paul passed away in 2011. JoAnn lived life to the fullest enjoying simple pleasures with her family. She was never idle and enjoyed sewing, jewelry making, quilting and needlework. She made her daughters’ wedding dresses. She especially enjoyed working outdoors, whether in the vegetable garden or up on the tractor mowing. JoAnn taught her children the importance of family and supported their many activities and life events. She never complained in spite of health challenges and was a strong woman with a quick wit and fierce sense of humor. We will miss her laughter. JoAnn is survived by her three children: son Paul E. (Gene) Chapman; daughters Leann (Mark) and Lynda (Paul); five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Gene took great care of our mother for almost a decade in the family home and we honor his devotion to her.
