Gloria J. Reed

1939-2022

Gloria Jean Reed, 82, passed from this life and into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, in Edmond. She was born November 29, 1939, in Hobart, OK, and graduated from Hobart High School. She was married 62 years to her beloved husband Jerry Reed who she wed at the tender age of 17. She is now reunited in heaven with Jerry who passed away in 2019.

She moved to Edmond in August of 1957 and built a life for her family. She was a devoted Christian, a faithful prayer warrior and a longtime member of Waterloo Baptist Church in Edmond. Her favorite Bible verse was Jeremiah 29:11-13 which reads 11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

As a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Gloria loved her family very much and treasured her time with them more than anything else. She was grateful every day for the family God gave her.

Always a devoted caregiver, she went above and beyond to be a steadfast role model for all generations. Her strength of character showed through her overflowing love for her family and her unwavering faith in God.

She will also be remembered for her love of cooking, family gatherings, annual traditions, holiday celebrations and her famous Christmas candy. She also had her own cappuccino mix that she loved to drink every day and loved to share. (It is very addicting!)

Gloria is survived by her three daughters Bev Reed, Linda Lojka and her husband Jerry, and Lisa Doyle and her husband Jon, all of Edmond. Also surviving are her five grandchildren, Nathan Redick and his wife Krystal, Kaleb Redick, Josie Reed, and Will and Peyton Doyle, and her three great grandchildren Liam, Caiden and Jacob Redick, and close friends that were just like family, Jenny King of Yukon, her children Trey King and Brittany Keys and her husband Justin, and grandchildren Nehemiah, Lilliana, Stella and Bishop.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Friday, January 28th at Matthews Funeral Home.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Waterloo Road Baptist Church with interment to follow at Gracelawn Cemetery Edmond, OK.
