Zouella Hargrave
1918-2013
Zouella Crawford Hargrave rejoined her beloved Bennie and her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on August 3, 2013. Born in September of 1918 in Pecan Gap, Texas Zouella lived a long and fruitful life. She graduated from Pecan Gap High School in 1936 as valedictorian and then from Dallas Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in 1939 as a Registered Nurse. Married to Bennie Hargrave in 1940, she graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1950 with a Bachelor in Religious Education. She and Bennie lived in Miami and Cordell, Oklahoma before settling permanently in Edmond.
Her greatest joys were her family, friends and her church. Most of her family have predeceased her. She is survived by her daughter Sharon Caldwell, son-in-law Tony and their children Tyler and Brendan. She leaves behind her friends and in-laws Bob and Barbara Graham as well as many other close friends, sister-in-law Beatrice Mathisen, nieces Danna Willis, Joan Watts and Debbie Assad and cousin Glee Chaney all of Texas.
Zouella was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Edmond. She never sought attention for herself but quietly encouraged others. The fruit of her life is in the many lives she touched and souls she nurtured.
The family would like to thank the many wonderful people at Epworth Villa and Quality of Life Hospice who so lovingly and compassionately cared for Zouella in her final days. A remembrance celebration of her life will take place Monday, August 12, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Matthews Funeral Home, 601 S. Kelly Avenue, Edmond. Interment will follow in Memorial Cemetery, Oklahoma City. Memorial donations can be made to Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children.
Our love and prayers during this time from Cordell now OKC.
Tony, Sharon, Tyler and Brendan,
I loved visiting with Zouella. She loved you so much and she was so proud of you. I will always remember my visits with Zouella because she reminds me in many ways of each one of you. As much as she loved you, she also loved Jesus and was ready to see his face. Praying with Zouella was such a privilege. Thank you for allowing me to spend time with her this past year.
Blessed by your friendship,
Carolyn
