Zora Lee Young

Zora “Lee” Young

1931-2021

Zora “Lee” Young was born on June 8, 1931, in Blackwell, Oklahoma  to Robert G. and Lena May (Ransom) Hornbeck.  She passed away at her home in Edmond, Oklahoma on July 31, 2021, at the age of 90.

Lee was a wonderful and sweet person who had a zest for life.  She attended college at Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa, OK where she met the love of her life Raymond Devon Young.  They were married for 67 years before his passing in 2019.  She retired from Governair Corporation on January 1, 1997, as Director of Personnel after 26 years of employment.  Lee loved her job and working.

She was an avid skier (a member of the Oklahoma Ski Club), hiker, and walked about a half a mile a day up until the last few months of her life.  She was a faithful member and contributor to the Edmond Church of Christ.  She loved to travel and many of her favorite memories are of Crested Butte, CO. and Maui, HI.

Lee loved her sons and family.  She brought joy to those around her.

She is survived by her sons, Kyle Young and partner Darla Smith and Raymond Young, Jr., and his wife Ellen, grandchildren, Alleson and Rachel. The family would like to thank her longtime caregiver Dorcus who was a loyal and good friend.

Graveside Services will be held on Thursday, August 5th  at 10:00 a.m. at Gracelawn Cemetery, in Edmond, OK.
