Zella Coy Nance

Zella Coy Nance

1931 – 2020Nance, Zella

Zella Coy Nance took her last breath in Ponca City, OK on July 31 and joined her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ along with beloved family members.

Zella was born on a family farm west of Purcell, OK to Samuel and Mildred Stark on July 30, 1931. She was the fourth of nine children and learned to cook on a wood stove.

Zella had many stories to tell of growing up in a four-room log home.  Carl K. Nance was the love of her life and they married in 1953. Sadly, Carl preceded

her in death in 2001. Their first home was in Oklahoma City and in 1963 they moved to their ranch north of Edmond, OK. There they raised their family and bred and raised

horses and cattle. She was a wonderful farm and ranch wife and mother to her four children. She was a long-time member of the Edmond Church of Christ where she was

active in women’s ministries and ladies bible studies. Zella was also a member of the Woodcrest Ladies Auxiliary.

When grandchildren arrived she blossomed even more and poured much love into each new addition to the family. In her later years she was thrilled to get to welcome great grandchildren as well.

Her survivors are Kenneth Nance and wife Chris of Ponca City, OK, Chet Nance and wife Kristy of Fort Collins, CO, Katrina Myers and husband Brian of Edmond, OK. Her

surviving siblings are Sam Stark and wife Jo of Lexington, OK, John Stark of Purcell, OK, Curtis Stark and wife Pebbles of Edmond, OK, and Beulah Borrel and husband Chuck of Mission Viejo, CA.

Zella’s grandchildren are Cory Nance (Jennifer) of Edmond, OK, Kelly Nance of Ponca City, OK, Kambra Reynolds (Jason) of Norman, OK, Trevor Nance of Fort Collins, CO,

Jason Nance (Michaela) of Edmond, OK, Mollie Myers of Edmond, OK and Wyatt Myers of Edmond, OK. Great grandchildren are Elisabeth Richardson of Edmond, Lilly, Jude,

and Max Reynolds of Norman, OK and Dylan and Logan Nance of Ponca City, OK.

Those waiting for Zella in heaven were her parents, Sam and Mildred Stark, her husband Carl and daughter Carla. Also sisters Doris Fore, Theo McCrosky, Reba Archer, and Martha Johnston were reunited with Zella in heaven. What a celebration they are having!

Memorial contributions can be made to searchtv.org in Zella’s name.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at Memorial Park Cemetery, Oklahoma City, OK.

Zella was one of the sweetest ladies I knew. She always had something nice to say to me at church. Most of us remember and cherish those who go out of their way to encourage us, and I will forever cherish and remember Zella Nance. My prayer is that God will bring comfort and peace to Zella’s family as they grieve, reflect and move forward.

Carlene Campbell and I always loved to visit with Zella. She was very sweet and caring. We have missed seeing her smiling face since she left Edmond. We are sending love and prayers to her remaining family.
