1941-2021

Yvonna Douglas was born on June 20, 1941, in Fairview, Oklahoma.  She grew up in Ft. Collins, Colorado, and Fairview, Oklahoma, where she played basketball for the Fairview Yellow Jackets and was the only female projectionist for the local Royal Theater.  She enjoyed traveling, always looking for the next adventure which found her living in Japan, Gillette, Wyoming, Bartlesville, Tulsa and then Edmond, to be close to her sister, Paulette Shafer, niece Shawn Shafer, and nephew Steven Shafer.

Always interested in computers, Yvonna earned a bachelor’s degree from Tulsa University, and made a career in Information Technology working for Phillips 66, Exxon, Carter Mining, and the Department of Defense at Tinker Air Force Base.   After retirement, she was a dedicated volunteer at the Oklahoma History Center.  She always looked forward to coming home to her lovable cats.

Yvonna was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Lola Campbell Morlong, sister Ruth Walker, and brother Lester Morlong.   She will be missed by all who knew her, including her nieces, Kathleen Redman of North Carolina and Lisa Dobson of Florida.
