William A. McVay

1937-2016

McVay, WilliamWilliam A. McVay, 79, born January 28, 1937 passed away May 3, 2016, after a long illness, surrounded by family and friends. Raised in Cushing OK, he attended Central State College (UCO), where he met the love of his life, Cathy. He taught for many years in the Oklahoma City School System, also serving as the Curriculum Director for the Arts Program before retiring. He loved to paint and draw, and created many forms of art over the years. He had a love of horses and RV travel.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Cathy, son, Terry McVay of Edmond, daughter Deidre Earnheart (Hugh) of Moscow, TN, son, Kevin McVay of Oklahoma City, grandchildren Emily Bills, Evan Bills, Ryan McVay, Chett Earnheart, Emiley Risinger (Chris), Melani Earnheart, Sean Hood (Kristen), Shelbi McVay and great granddaughter Eleanor Risinger. He is also survived by his siblings, Greta Wilson (Jesse), Priscilla Butcher (Lloyd), Richard McVay (Janice), Sara Willis (Bob), Vicki Haddock, Mary Walker (Wendell), and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Ruth McVay.

Services will be held at Peace Lutheran Church, May 13, 2016 at 2:00 p.m.

  1. I am so sorry for your loss of “Dub”. He was a member of our Cushing High graduating class of 1955. We remember him as a warm and friendly friend with loads of talent. God will be with you as you mourn the loss of him and I know you have lots of wonderful memories of him to live with you forever.
