1926 – 2018
Willard Eugenia Engram Hare, age 91, passed away peacefully on March 8. She was born in Kosse, TX to Thomas Jesse and Emma Chapman Engram. She was the youngest of nine children. Willard graduated from Reagan High School in Houston, TX. She and James Bernard Hare were married August 28, 1946. They moved to Lubbock, TX in 1971. J.B. was disabled at the age of 54, and she faithfully took care of him for the remaining 26 years of his life. Her dedication to J.B. was inspiring to all who knew her. Willard was a faithful Christian and was known as the “hat lady” and as the “bread lady” at the Kingsbridge Church of Christ in Lubbock, where she always wore a hat on Sundays and usually had several homemade loaves of bread to give away. Willard was an accomplished seamstress, quilter and gardener. She moved to OKC, OK in 2015, and was a member at Memorial Road Church of Christ in Edmond.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband J.B., brothers T.J., Otis, Walter, William and A.L. Engram and sisters Lillian Stodghill, Rebecca Morgenthaler and Lavonia Kuehne. She is survived by children Brenda Esacove, Eileen Mager and Dwain Hare, grandchildren Marcus and Morgan Hare, Adrienne Wolfkuhle and Cameron Mager and great-grandchildren Kellan, Isabella and Tristan Hare and Poet Wolfkuhle.
Memorial services will be held at 10 AM on Friday, March 16 at Resthaven Funeral Home in Lubbock, TX.
