Wenona Barnard Bennett

December 16, 1926 – March 24, 2022

Wenona “Barnard” Bennett died Thursday, March 24, 2022, at the age of 95 in Edmond, Oklahoma. Wenona was born on December 16, 1926, on a farm northeast of Norman, Oklahoma to Harley and Gussie Barnard. She was the fourth of 10 children. After a few years on the farm, the family moved to town in Norman, Oklahoma.

In 1945, Wenona met her husband, Graham Bennett, and they were married in 1948, and moved from Norman to Edmond, Oklahoma in 1949. Wenona worked at Macklanburg-Duncan for several years before retiring from there. Nothing gave Wenona more pleasure in life than being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her hobbies included bowling, playing Bridge for a few years, also going to bingo, she also loved to read. But most of all she loved making a picture album for all of her seven grandchildren.

Wenona is preceded in death by her parents, Harley and Gussie Barnard, three sisters, an infant Mary Lou Barnard, Irene Riggins, Norma Allensworth, and Betty Barnard, one brother Joe Barnard and wife, Genevieve, and Wenona’s husband of 67 years, Graham Bennett.

She is survived by her daughter Carol Lindsay and husband, Paul, son, Dennis Bennett and Deborah Sandmann, and daughter, Gail Black and husband, Jay, all of Edmond, Oklahoma, along with 7 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren, brother, Ted Barnard and wife, Ruth, sisters, Dorothy Amrein, Juanita Goins and husband, Bob, all from Norman, Oklahoma, sister, Bobby Musgrave and husband, Al from Purcell, Oklahoma, and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at Gracelawn Cemetery in Edmond, Oklahoma.
