Wayne Brooks Leshe

1932-2024

Wayne Brooks Leshe, 91, of Jefferson’s Garden, Edmond, went to be with his Savior on March 18, 2024, with his daughter Tammy by his side.

Wayne was born on October 31, 1932, in Shreveport, LA to Brooks Talton Leshe and Annie Ashford (Henderson) Leshe.

Wayne attended many schools throughout his young life completing his 8th through 12th grade education and graduated from Winnsboro High School in May 1950.  Following his graduation, he attended East Texas State College and graduated in May 1954 with a BS in Accounting.  Wayne married the love of his life, Patsy Jean (Satterwhite) Leshe and was blessed with 4 daughters.

Wayne served in the US Air Force, he worked at the Farmers Home Administration (St Louis, MO) as the Chief Accountant for the Federal Communications Commission (Washington, DC) and the US Pentagon from where he retired.

He was active in the Woosley Baptist Church, Point, TX for many years.  He was also active in Point City Council, Rains County Historical Commission and the Rains County Genealogical Society and many other organizations prior to moving to Silver Elm Estates in Edmond, OK in 2018. Wayne was also a Life Time member of the Masonic Lodge (32 Degree Mason), the York Rite, Order of DeMolay and Ainad Shrine Temple.  He was also a member of the American Legion where he served as Chaplain for Rains County.

Wayne is survived by his daughters Tanya and Jeff Cotton of Apopka, FL, Tacia Bethel of O’Fallon, IL; Tammy and John Curtis of Edmond, OK and Tracy Silva of McHenry, IL; his sister Beverly Schmedthorst, Poolville, TX;  his 8 Grandchildren – Courtney, Craig, Christopher, Lauren, Ashleigh, Tyler, Austin, and Logan; his 5 Great-Grandchildren – Haley, Lucas, Scotland, Scarlett and John; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and many, many friends. 

He was preceded in death by his wife Patsy, his parents and his brother Gene E. Leshe.  Wayne will be placed to rest at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Wood County (outside of Winnsboro, TX). 

Service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Winnsboro, Texas.
