Virginia “Virgie” Osborne
December 9, 1935 – June 3, 2013
Virginia “Virgie” Osborne, 77, of Edmond, OK. entered Heaven on June 3, 2013, after a long and hard fought battle with breast cancer. She passed away peacefully in her home with her family by her side. Virgie was born to the late Ida Maytubbi on December 9, 1935 in Idabel, OK. Virgie attended Wheelock Academy and graduated in 1943 and received her associates degree from Haskell Institute. Virgie was a medical transcriptionist for several decades before retiring from the O.U. Health Sciences Center in 2010. Family was Virgie’s greatest love throughout her life. She is survived by her children, Kimberly Hawkey, LaDonna BlueEye and Gregory Osborne and their father, Hershel (Ozzie) Osborne. Her grandchildren Stephen Hawkey, Laura Hawkey and husband Michael Mouser, Scott Osborne, Hailee Osborne, Trinity Osborne and Gregory Osborne, Jr., brother, William Jessie, Sisters, Lenora Clark and husband, Louis, Esther Gray, Jackie Marris and husband, Arlie and Ruby Jessie. Numerous nieces and nephews that she loved dearly. She was greeted at Heaven’s gates by her beloved mother Ida and siblings Alec Jessie, Eliza James, Julius Davis, Jr. and Rosalee Harley. Even in death, Virgie’s light continues to shine bright through the countless lives she touched during her time on earth. The family will greet friends on Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Matthews Funeral Home with services scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel.

I worked with Virgie in early 90s at Presbyterian. I loved her to pieces. We went bowling once on her team. Good times. Love you Virgie
