Viki Beth Sarff

May 5, 1940 – July 27, 2024

Viki Beth Cunningham Sarff passed away on July 27, 2024, at Jasmine Estates Memory Care in Edmond. She was born on May 5th, 1940, in Enid OK, the daughter of W. Paul and Bo Peep Cunningham.

Viki attended Enid schools until her father transferred to Ponca City when she was in the seventh grade. Her father transferred again to Edmond before her freshman year in high school. She graduated from Edmond High School in 1958 and from what was then Central State College (University of Central Oklahoma) in 1962 where she was a charter member of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority.

Early in her working career Viki’s roommate introduced her to S. Sherman Sarff, an Air Force Second Lieutenant stationed at Tinker Air Force Base. They were married on October 9, 1965, and began an almost 60-year journey together. They established homes in Okinawa, Colorado, Arizona, Alabama, Iran and finally back home to Edmond. Daughter Stacie Beth joined the family in Okinawa and son Scott Sherman in Colorado.

After returning to Edmond, Viki worked in the attendance and counselor’s offices at Edmond Memorial High School. She loved cheering for her Bulldogs at football and basketball games and retired in 1994. She often said her plants and flower beds were the best therapy she could find. Viki loved the Christmas holidays and when she finished decorating there were no open spaces. Viki’s sense of humor was known to all. She always had a snappy reply or funny observation ready for any situation. She loved her family and friends, her dogs Sunshine and Ema, and strawberries, scarecrows and Santa Claus.

Viki was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by her daughter Stacie Beth Sarff of Edmond, son Scott Sherman Sarff of Oklahoma City, sister Deneice Cunningham Rice (Bradley R.) of Madison, GA, and numerous cousins.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to everyone on the staffs at Jasmine Estates and Choice Hospice, especially nurses Shar and Sherri, for their compassionate care of Viki.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like you to consider making a donation to the Edmond Animal Shelter in memory of Viki.

Visitation will take place from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 1, 2024 at Matthews Funeral Home in Edmond, Oklahoma.

Services will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 2, 2024 at Gracelawn Cemetery in Edmond, Oklahoma.

We were so fortunate that we were a part of Viki’s extended family. She and my mother loved each other dearly their entire lives.
