Tommy “Tom” Eugene Luttrell

1957 – 2023

Tommy (Tom) Eugene Luttrell, beloved husband and father departed this life suddenly on July 26, 2023, due to a medical complication. He was at his home in Edmond, Oklahoma, doing what he loved most, being with his family. He was 65.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lynette Luttrell, and their three children Matt Luttrell and his wife, Cindy, of Norman, Oklahoma; Natalie Johndrow and her husband, Eddie, of Enid, Oklahoma; and Jerrod Luttrell, of Oklahoma City; his precious granddaughters Hannah Luttrell of Norman, Oklahoma, and Bailey Luttrell of Edmond, Oklahoma. Also his brother Bill Luttrell and his wife, Cindy, of Edmond, along with numerous nieces and nephews in Oklahoma.  Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Edna Luttrell, of Perry, Oklahoma.

Tom was born in Perry, Oklahoma, on November 26, 1957. He attended the Perry Schools through 12th grade. After high school he earned a full football scholarship at East Central University where he graduated with a degree in Business. While at Perry High School he met the love of his life, Lynette, when they were only 16. He knew he was going to marry her, and they married on August 5, 1977, when they were both only 19. Tom and Lynette were best friends and partners in life as they raised their family. He was a devoted father and was extremely proud of his children. His children called him their “hero.”

After college Tom became an oil and gas Landman. At the age of 52 he retired from Continental Resources as Senior V.P. of Land where he had worked for 20 years.  He was instrumental in the company’s success.

Every Christmas Tom would quietly make sure that many children received a bicycle for their Christmas, and he did other things behind the scenes to help less fortunate children.

Words cannot express our loss as we are heartbroken by his early departure. He was the husband and father that dreams are made of. Our lives will never be the same without him.

To honor Tom, a private service with family and close friends will celebrate his life.

We are fortunate to be Tom and Lynette’s neighbors. Seeing them as a couple and knowing how long they have been together has always been reassuring. They have been so supportive of one another. We will miss seeing Tom work on his projects and pulling up in the RV ready for the road.
