Todd Darren Whipple
1965-2021
Todd Darren Whipple, age 55 from Grove, Oklahoma passed away on Saturday, September 25, 2021, in Stillwater, OK. Todd was born on October 28, 1965, in Oklahoma to parents, Darrel and Lynn Whipple. Todd grew up in Edmond, Oklahoma and attended Deer Creek Public Schools K-12. Todd completed an associate’s degree in horticulture from Oklahoma State University. Todd loved all outdoor activities including boating, fishing, shooting, and especially most recently enjoyed his place at Grand Lake. Since he relocated to Grove Oklahoma, he spent much time cooking and entertaining family. Todd also liked black coffee, lots of sweets, books, and art.
Besides spending time with his wife and family, Todd had an interest in reading, building, spending time on the lake and taking care of his dog, Addy. Todd will be remembered by his unfailing work ethic, his kindness, and his willingness to help others in time of need.
His younger sister Amanda shared “that he loved beautiful sunsets and was always willing to share tips and trades regarding house projects and always coming up with creative ideas.” Amanda also shared that “Todd was an affectionate person and always expressing his love to others. She said, “The winks he would shoot me from across the room proved that he always had my back and reassured me when in doubt everything would be ok.”
Todd’s younger brother Chris mentioned that “Todd fit the role as big brother perfectly growing up, and that the two brothers spent much time trapping and fishing, always looking out for Chris while teaching him new things along the way. Chris mentioned that “He not only loved me as brothers do but made sure that I knew it by telling me and showing much love and affection. As we grew into young men, our bond as brothers grew also. The most recent memories shared were happy, enjoying our time together and with family.”
Todd’s sister Darolyn reminds us all that Todd was loving for sure, but she said, “let’s now forget that he was also very ornery!” “There were many times that Todd was quite the trickster and enjoyed poking fun and teasing his siblings.” As Dad said “Todd was precious, well mannered and kind.”
Todd’s humor combined with his sweet affection was a perfect combination and made him so easy to love.
Todd is survived by his parents, Darrel and Lynn Whipple, wife, Sandie Edwards; Children, Benton Whipple, Samantha & husband Colby Collier, Alexis and husband David Owen, Jesse and husband Eric Edwards; grandchildren, Marley and Christian; siblings, Darolyn and husband Greg Seay, Chris and wife Julie, Amanda and husband A.J. I have only the brightest of memories when I think of you Todd. A great friend, an inspiration and I always have and will continue to smile when I think of all the things we did together. All the things you thought me as I was an exchange student at Deer Creek High School.
My thoughts go out to all of you, some whom I have never met.
We are all sharing sadness and loss together today.
We will miss this dear Lake friend. His wonderful goofy smile and wave each morning made such a special memory to our lake trips. We loved having him as our neighbor and there will definitely be a void. Rest in Peace sweet man.
