Thomas Edward Gulan, Jr.
1958-2023
Thomas (Tom) Gulan Jr., age 65, passed away on September 21, 2023 at St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City after lengthy illnesses. He was surrounded by his loving daughter Nicole along with her husband Joshua and her mother Jean.
Tom was born in Weirton, WV on 3/28/58 the son of his beautiful mother, the late Sandra (DiCarlo) Gulan and his father, the late Thomas Gulan Sr.
Tom was a 1976 graduate of Weir High School and at 6’8” enjoyed playing basketball for the Red Riders.
He was employed by Weirton Steel in the Tin Mill until his retirement.
Tom was an avid golfer winning recognition for his long drive, his youth golf instructions, and his organizing of golf tournaments throughout the Ohio Valley.
Tom, a long time resident of Ohio and WV, moved to Oklahoma City in 2013 to be near his daughter and her family.
Tom’s greatest joy was cheering on his athletic grandchildren Phoenix, Raiden and Joshua. Tom attended game after game until he was unable then he watched their basketball games on video. His 6’8” eldest grandson Phoenix, certainly got his height from his Pap Pap. He sure was proud of and loved all three boys often bragging about them to others.
In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by the grandparents whom he adored, Frank & Ida DiCarlo and Watts & Mildred Gulan.
Tom is survived by his daughter Nicole Woodson, who was by his side helping him for years, and her husband Joshua along with his three grandchildren Phoenix and twins Raiden & Joshua. Surviving also is his twin sisters Michele Gulan and Melanie Pyle. He is also survived by his ex-wife Jean Woodward who in difficult times helped Nicole with his care. Tom will be sadly missed by many more relatives and lifelong friends.
To honor Tom’s wishes, there will be no funeral services, and he will be cremated. Matthews Funeral Home & Cremation in Edmond, OK is handling his cremation. The family is asking all to always remember Tom and honor his memory at this time of sadness with your favorite prayer.
Very sorry to hear of Tom passing. Enjoyed knowing him , working with him, and golfing with him. Prayers and sympathy go out to you all. He got me out on the golf course and I haven’t stopped since. I will always remember him. God bless
To Tom’s family, you are all in my thoughts and prayers. I knew Tom from the high school years and when he worked in Weirton. He was always a nice person.
