What I know in my head and what I feel in my heart don’t want to synchronize today. Tom was my beloved older brother and the void his death creates will never be filled. He leaves behind a wealth of advice, love, laughter and his many, many stories. This poem titled “Death is Nothing at All” by Canon Henry Scott Holland will help me in the weeks and months ahead as I adjust to Tom’s passing. A portion of the poem says:
Death is nothing at all.
I have only slipped away into the next room.
I am I and you are you.
And whatever we were to each other, that we still are.
Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same as it ever was.
There is absolute unbroken continuity.
Mr. Tom was a joy to work with. He loved the kids at Ida Freeman. My heart goes out to Joel and Linda. He will be missed.
Rest in peace our friend. Enjoy your walk with God.
