Archibald

Tom was born on October 7, 1942 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Thomas and Alberta Archibald. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Gloria; his son David Archibald of Edmond; daughter Susan & husband Chris Yancey of Sarasota, FL; grandchildren Chad & Katelyn Archibald and Caroline & Juliet Yancey; father Tom Archibald; brother Walter Archibald (Nancy); sisters Ann Byrd & Jane Thomas (Mark); and many loving in-laws, nieces and nephews. Tom is preceded in death by his mother, Alberta; and son, Jeffrey.

There is no way to adequately summarize Tom’s passions and the missions he championed. He had the vision to plant a seed and start the work to make The Festival of the Arts, The Myriad Gardens, Opening Night, and Lake Hefner Trails what they have become today. An avid sailor, he most recently he made his protest known about drilling on the Lake Hefner shoreline.

Most will remember Tom running around the Arts Festival with a huge gap toothed grin and his winged hair flying out from under his ball cap.

Memorial service will be held at 2:00PM, Friday, October 23, 2015 on the Water Stage at the Myriad Botanical Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Myriad Gardens Foundation, 301 W. Reno, OKC, OK 73102.

    Gloria,
You and Tom played an important part in my life when I went to work for you at the place in Britton in 1986.
It was hard to leave you when we moved to Colorado in 1993 to be close to our children and grandchildren.
I have thought of you often.

    Love
    Glenda & Harold

    Archibald Family:

My fondest memory of Tom and Gloria is the great trip we took to Colombia, Missouri to see the OSU-Missouri football game. None of us will ever forget the old Winnebago that broke down on the way home. We had a lot of good times.

My thoughts and prayers are with you,
    Sandy Willis
