Terri Lee Horton

Terri Lee Horton

1967-2021

Terri Lee (Simon) Horton was born on September 19th, 1967 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Stuart and Judy Simon. She passed away on June 14th, 2021 in Edmond, Oklahoma surrounded by her family.

Terri loved being active and her early hobbies included cheer, dance, skating, horseback riding, and softball. She graduated in 1985 from Country Club Academy in Norman. After getting her degree at Rose State College, her career included roles in banking, and non-profit agencies at NAMI of Cleveland County, Meals on Wheels of Norman, and Edmond Mobile Meals. She lived out her authentic passion for kindness to all and service to the vulnerable.

She married David Horton in 1996, becoming a mother to Taylor and Ali, who brought tremendous joy and fulfillment to her life. She proudly watched their many activities, achievements and growth into young adults.

Terri was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004, which recurred in 2018. She quietly fought and worked through treatments with grace, courage and the support of her family, friends, and care teams for whom we are incredibly thankful.

Terri was preceded in death by her parents, Stuart and Judy Simon. She is survived by her husband David of Edmond Oklahoma, daughters Taylor of Oklahoma City, and Ali, of Edmond; brother Jason, of Spring, Texas; an aunt, Shelia Burns of Las Vegas, and extended families who loved her dearly.

Come and Go Reception with family and friends will be held at Edmond Mobile Meals on Tuesday June 29th from 5pm -7pm at 25 W. 3rd Street, Edmond OK.

Her memorial service and celebration of life will be Wednesday June 30th at 2pm at Acts 2 United Methodist Church in Edmond.  If you would like to watch the service via webcasting please follow the link https://youtu.be/ZEaG9mH4OaQ

    David, Taylor and Ali,

You didn’t have to know Terri long to witness the depth of her love for each of you. She was so, so proud to be David’s wife and mom to Taylor and Ali. She lived a life of grace and kindness and will be deeply missed by so many, including her EMM family. I am honored to have called her friend.

May you find an unexplainable level of comfort and joy in your memories and may her love carry you through the minutes you think you can’t endure.

    Blessings,

    Kathy Wallis

Terri was my gal at work. She listened to my endless stories about everything from my new decoration ideas to my dating life! Her sarcasm and hilarious sense of humor are the traits I will miss the most. I am grateful for our time together and want to express my sincerest gratitude to David, Taylor, and Ali for allowing us to have our joyous Monday visits these last several weeks. Terri always made me feel seen and heard even if I was just rambling or fussing about nothing. I will miss her check-ins. She always knew when I was in a mood and needed an ear. She loved her family and her spicy food! Love you always lady!

A gentle and loving soul. I didn’t know of her health problems and she never let on to us volunteers. Always responsive to any volunteer and food recipient need at EMM and a hard worker! Great smile.

Terri was one of the kindest people I have ever known. I think of all the days when she, Toni and I would be sitting here in our office at Mobile Meals just laughing together. We laughed SO MUCH. I know without a doubt that David, Taylor & Ali were the center of her universe and her reason for being. Her love for you three would shine through any time she spoke of you all. I loved sharing my days with her, and am so grateful to call her my friend.

The Mondays we were able to spend with her this past few weeks are some of the most treasured of all. I love you, Terri. Thank you for letting me be part of your life.

1 Thessalonians, Chapter 4, Verses 16-18. “For the Lord shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.”

It has been a joy to know Terri. She has been a wonderful lady and was always so nice and encouraging to Sydney.

    God bless your family.

I never had the opportunity to meet Terri but, knowing David and hearing stories about their beautiful family tells me she had to be one heck of a person. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.
