Stephanie Dawn Holmberg
1978-2023
Stephanie Dawn Newby Holmberg, age 45, of Edmond, Oklahoma was received by Jesus on July 20th, 2023, after a more than decade long battle with cancer.
Stephanie was born in Oklahoma City on April 4th, 1978, to Kris Greenwood and Steve Newby. She was a beautiful, active, strong-willed child who brought joy to all that met her. Steph graduated from Putnam City North High School in 1996 and Oklahoma State University in 2000.
Lee met his future “sweetie pie” for dinner at Don Pablo’s and they dated for two years before getting married in 2004.
Stephanie gave birth to their daughter, Harper Dawn, on May 17th, 2007. After Harper was born, she and Lee thought it best for their family for Stephanie to devote her attention to being a full-time mom. Almost two years later on February 5th, 2009, she and Lee were blessed with their son, Gunnar Lee.
Since the beginning of her fight, there have been family, loved ones, her church, and even strangers, who supported them in Arkansas and at home in Edmond. Stephanie, Lee, Harper, and Gunnar are forever grateful for the many gifts, both financial and spiritual, that have been showered upon them for the last decade. She celebrated the fact that the power of prayer alone saved her many times.
Stephanie was a woman of strong Christian beliefs and a member of Faith Bible Church. She followed Christ and would encourage family that loving Jesus is a way to one day see each other again.
Stephanie is preceded in death by her grandparents Leroy Horn and Dan and Mina Tate. She is survived by her husband Lee Holmberg, daughter Harper, and son Gunnar; her parents, Bill & Kris Greenwood, her brother Zack Newby and his wife Sarah along with their four children: Eli, Brielle, Adalie and Ike; her brother Billy Greenwood and his sons Brooks and Will; grandmother Emma Horn; Lee’s parents Harold and Barbara Holmberg; her brother-in-law Mike Holmberg and wife Allison, and their two sons Caleb and Josh, along with a host of aunts, uncles and cousins she dearly loved.
In lieu of flowers, consider a donation in Stephanie’s name to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or Goodness Village Little Rock.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at Faith Bible Church Edmond, OK.
Lee, Harper and Gunnar, Janis and I want to add our condolences to those of our entire River Oaks community over the loss of Stephanie. Although the number of years she struggled with her illness is an awful thing, it also reminds us of how much she wanted to stay with her family and the strength of her character. Hopefully Stephanie’s many positive traits will be manifested and always visible in Harper and Gunnar and help to keep her close to those who loved her. Your family is in our warmest thoughts. Sadly, Curt and Janis Munson
Curt,
Thanks for the kind words, it is a blessing to be surrounded by so much love.
