Stanley Michael Samoska

1942-2023

On April 1st 2023, Stanley M. Samoska took his last breath at 80 years old. He was born on September 23rd 1942 to Antoinette and Raymond Samoska in Chicago, Il. He was the oldest of five children. He had four younger sisters that he was very protective of. He became a Chicago Police Officer and served on the force until the beginning of the 1970s where he transferred to the Village of Bridgeview Police Department where he made Detective. He worked as a juvenile police officer helping to keep kids off of the streets and away from trouble. He retired in 1993 and shortly thereafter worked in security for a riverboat casino in Joliet, Il. Until he had his heart attack in 2003 forcing him to finally retire. He moved to Oklahoma City, Ok in August of 2005 and stayed in Oklahoma until his death. His heart attack triggered many different heath issues including congestive heart failure and type 2 diabetes. But he was a stubborn man that would not allow these issues to get in his way of doing what he wanted to do. He survived nearly 20 years after his heart attack and dealing with his many other health conditions. He was recently diagnosed with late stage Alzheimer’s. As much as he fought in his life, he died very peacefully at his home with his loving wife, Brenda, by his side.

Stanley was a husband, father, grandfather, uncle and godfather. He is preceded in death by his parents. All four of his sisters, Josephine, Rose Mary, Maryann, and Nicolette. He is survived by his children, Raymond, Lori, Helen, Annie, Jean, Niki, Tony, Michelle and Dolores. He has many grandchildren, nieces and nephews and several god children. His wife Brenda has been by his side, taking care of him and loving him for over 20 years.

A very special thank you to Carter Hospice and the wonderful staff of nurses, aides, social worker and chaplain for taking very good care of Stanley and loving and supporting the family through this difficult time.

The family had a private viewing at Matthews Funeral Home in Edmond, Ok. The Memorial Service will be held on April 15th at 10am at Henderson Hills Baptist Church located at  1200 E I- 35 Frontage Rd, Edmond, OK 73034
