Squire Luttrell was born on Sept. 25, 1924 in Plainview, Texas. His family moved to Portales, N.M. when he was 5 and he graduated from high school there. He was called into the Air Force in 1943 and served 33 months of active duty, then over 30 years in the AF Reserves retiring as a Major.
He holds bachelor degrees from New Mexico, A&M, University of Missouri and a Masters from Emporia State University.
He did news reporting for several newspapers before becoming a high school teacher of English, Journalism and speech. At Olathe, Kansas he became a school librarian before accepting a librarian position at the University of Wisconsin, Whitewater for 21 years. He married Ida Mae on June 27, 1962 at Manhattan Kansas. He was very active in Kiwanis and held many offices including serving as a Lt. Governor in Wisconsin and Arkansas Districts. Squire and Ida Mae moved to Edmond, OK in 1997.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ida Mae, parents, Squire and Addie Luttrell, sister Leila Goldman and brothers, John and Kenneth.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2015 at Southern Hills Christian Church, Edmond, OK with interment at 2:30 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery in Muskogee, OK. Visitation will be held on Monday, Nov. 30, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Matthews Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Southern Hills Christian Church of Edmond.
