Shirley Jackson, 74, Edmond, Oklahoma passed away on March 24th 2013. She was born September 9, 1938 to Matthew and Hattie Roberts of Guthrie, Oklahoma. She loved the lord and it was fitting that she left to be with him early Sunday morning. She enjoyed reading the bible, being a church worker and singing with her grandchildren. She loved her family of sisters and brothers.
She is survived by her twin brother, Sherman Roberts, Los Angeles, CA and her sisters, Carlene Maddox, Los Angeles, CA Laura Roberts, Los Angeles, CA Reesa Dewberry, Kansas City, MO, Catherine Jordan, Edmond, OK, and sister-in-law Ruby-Lee Bohanan,
In 1959, after being courted, she married Guthrie native, Johnnie B. Jackson, and two years later they were blessed with daughter, Delisa. Five years later, the new family of three moved to California, to start a new career as a premium technician. In the following years her daughter was married to Ron Walker, New York, and she was happy to welcome three grandchildren, Angel, Breeana and Julian.
She is preceded in death by her husband of thirty-eight years, and her granddaughter, Breeana Raymond, brothers, MC Stevenson, Fred Roberts and Roger Roberts. She will be cherished and remembered for abundant wisdom and motherly wit she freely imparted to family and friends; for her fearlessness and above all her love for God.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. April 2nd, 2013 at the Grant Street Church of Christ in Guthrie, Oklahoma with interment to follow at Rosenwald Community Cemetery in Guthrie.
