Shirley Esther Burnett

Shirley Esther Burnett

Shirley Esther (Crozier) Burnett of Edmond, Oklahoma passed away peacefully on March 15, 2024.  She was born July 20, 1936 in Billings, Oklahoma, the daughter of William and Ruth Crozier.  Shirley raised  a son, Lowell Burnett and two daughters, Debbie Burnett and Pam (Burnett) Sherrick.  Pam’s husband Dean Sherrick was also her “son”.  Shirley had three granddaughters and their spouses,  Aimee Burnett  Dumas and Charles Bolton, Candice Sherrick Ciolac  and Alex, and Deana Sherrick.  Shirley was blessed with eight great-grandchildren and two great-great granddaughters, Austin Dumas, Kalen and Ila Cochran, Tabrycen Cochran,  Adrian Bolton,  Alexandra Ciolac, George Ciolac, Nathan Ciolac, Lillianna Ciolac, Layla Cochran, and Kya Cochran.  Shirley also has many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly, Barbara Fowler, Diana Faulkner, Russ Borgman, Linda Hall, Bill Crozier and Jackie Crozier who were all very involved in Shirley’s life.

Before Edmond became home for Shirley, she was raised on a farm outside of Billings, OK.  She attended church and school at  Antelope Valley.  After graduating from Garber High School she spent two years in Bethesda, Maryland doing church service.  Edmond was home to Shirley for about 60 years.  She worked for the Oklahoma State Medical Association as a comptroller.

She loved keeping up with everything going on in the lives of her family and started each day praying for them.  Her faith was strong and she loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Shirley faithfully attended Epicenter Church in Oklahoma City where she was lovingly called “Grandma Shirley”  by everyone.  She taught Lowell, Debbie, and Pam about Jesus and lived a life that was an example of a Christ centered  life.

There was a family reunion in Heaven when Shirley arrived.  She was preceded in death by her daughter Pam Sherrick, her parents William and Ruth Crozier,  brothers and sisters Leroy Crozier,  Darlene Semrad, Jack Crozier, and Verna Mae (Vernie) Bailey.

Many happy times were spent with her grandchildren.  These included pictures on grandma’s front porch and backyard parties, especially on the Fourth of July.  She gave the best tickles and love pats.  She loved getting calls from her granddaughters when they were “sick” at school so she could take them to McDonalds.  There were many slumber parties in her living room.  The kids loved gardening and learning to drive small trucks  with her in the backyard.  Long distance gardening with her granddaughter Candi in New York was very special.

Shirley will be missed by all and we know it’s not goodbye. Her message would be to love and care for each other.

Until we meet again!
