Scott Reed Tipton
1957 – 2023
Scott Reed Tipton of Edmond passed away June 22, 2023, of a heart attack at the age of sixty-five. He was born on December 25, 1957, in California to Frankie and Richard Tipton. He grew up in Lawton, Oklahoma. After he graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1976, he attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, where he received a bachelor’s in business in May 1980 and a master’s in business administration in May 1981. He was married to Andrea Tinsley on July 16, 1987. A year and a half later, his first daughter, Karlie, was born, followed by a son, Lucas, in 1992 and a second daughter, Brianna, in 1995. During that time, Scott attended the University of Central Oklahoma, obtaining his teaching certificate in 1993. He worked for two years as a substitute teacher in Edmond Public School, and then went on to pursue employment outside of that field, cultivating a long career in the automotive repair industry. He made many friends over the course of nineteen years at Sears and five years at Sam’s. Outside of work, Scott liked rock music, sports, snack food, and animals. He started playing tennis in ninth grade and was a successful competitive player, then coach and also shared his passion for the game with his wife. He had a pretty good sense of humor when he actually spoke—he also really enjoyed sharing funny videos with his family. But the thing Scott was probably most proud of was helping raise his granddaughter, Aria. She’s already becoming a really great kid, and he is part of that. He’s survived by Aria, daughters Brianna and Karlie, son Lucas, sister Sherri, dog Lucy, and wife Andrea of nearly thirty-five years.
