Scott C. Emerson
1953-2016
Scott C. Emerson was born April 12, 1953 in Detroit, Michigan to Barbara and Richard Emerson and passed away August 30, 2016 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Scott grew up in Clawson, Michigan and graduated from Clawson High School in 1971. He graduated from Oakland (Michigan) University in 1974 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science.
Scott moved to Oklahoma later that year to attend Oklahoma City University School of Law. He received his law degree in 1977 and was admitted to the Oklahoma Bar Association later that year. His career providing legal services to the Oklahoma Legislature began in 1977 as a Staff Attorney for the Legislative Council. When the Legislature opted to go to separate staffing in 1980, Scott joined the House of Representatives legal staff. In 1984 he was named Chief Council of the House Legal Division, a position he held until his retirement on January 1, 2007. Scott spent the 2007 through 2012 legislative sessions as a consultant for the Oklahoma State Senate.
Scott is survived by his wife, Alicia; in-laws, Barbara Roder, Enid, OK, Bob Ramming, Hinton, OK, and Betty Ramming, Hinton, OK; and an outstanding group of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Pursuant to Scott’s wishes, no services will be held. Memorials in Scott’s honor may be made to the American Cancer Society.
We truly lost a special person today.
