Sarah Salome McEwen
1940 – 2025
Sarah Salome McEwen, born on October 10, 1940, in Luther, Oklahoma, went to her eternal home on June 29, 2025.
Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, Harlan and Helena Leonard, her husband of over 25 years, Ronald McEwen and her brothers, James Leonard, Jerrold (Ruth) Leonard and her daughter-law, Sherri Fina. She leaves behind many family members, children, and grandchildren.
Sarah is survived by her son Melchiorre (Tammy) Fina, Jerry Fina, Jeffrey (Carolyn) Fina, grandchildren, Jeremy (Samantha), Joshua, Jordyn, Julianne, Jessie (Eri), George, Jack, Eli, Lucas, Clara, and great grandchildren, Ryan, Miles, Rowan, Leela, and Touya.
Sarah is also survived by her sister, Harlene Pratt, and brothers: Joseph (Marilyn) Leonard, Jack (Denise) Leonard, Jeffrey Leonard, and Mark (Beth) Leonard.
She also has many nieces, nephews and cousins who loved her, too numerous to list here.
Sarah lived in Edmond, Oklahoma for much of her life but also lived in Florida, Kansas, and Oklahoma City. She was an accomplished manager working for the Hertz corporation, Braniff Airlines and for the Federal government in the courts system.
She was a lifelong Catholic who devoted time to the care of retired nuns at the Villa Theresa in Oklahoma City. She was also a dog lover who took care of many rescued dogs, gave them a home, and attended to them in their dying days.
Our family wishes to express our thanks and gratitude to her family members, friends, and the Gospel Of Life Disciples organization for their role in caring for our mother in her final days.

A Wake service will be held Wednesday, July 2, 2025, beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Matthews Funeral Home, 601 S. Kelly Ave., Edmond, OK 73003.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2025 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Edmond, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Gracelawn Cemetery in Edmond, Oklahoma.
