Ruth Lorine WIlson
1923-2018
Ruth Lorine Russell Wilson was born in Atoka, Oklahoma on June 8, 1923 to Lillie Mae and James Arthur Russell. She was the second of 6 children. She passed away peacefully in the home of her son, Vince and his wife, Jacque, on May 8, 2018. She was 94 years old.
Ruth was married on September 5, 1942 to Royce Keithly Wilson. They were married 62 years before Royce’s death in July 2005. They raised three sons, traveled the US and attended Edmond First Baptist Church. Ruth was a stay at home mom until her boys were all in school and then she worked at Dairy Queen, the college snack bar and then First National Bank, where she retired in 1987.
She is survived by her sons, Roy Kenneth and his wife, Carolyn of Beaumont, Texas, Vince Lee and his wife, Jacque of Edmond, and Gale Arthur and his wife Debbie of Austin, Texas as well as seven grandchildren, Mary Wilson, Julie Schwartz, Ken Wilson, Jr, Tim Wilson, Tara Johnson, Victoria Fox, and James Wilson. She has 11 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews as well.
Ruth is known for her hospitality, kind demeanor and her Christian faith. She was loved by all who knew her, and she will be sorely missed.
Viewing will be from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Matthews Funeral Home, 601 S. Kelly Edmond, OK. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Stonegate Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 17101 N. Western Edmond, OK. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Hobart, OK.
