Rosalie was born on the farm in Lahoma, OK on April 7th, 1932, to Edward and Lydia Holz and was called to her eternal home by her Heavenly Father on Saturday, March 20, 2021 in Oklahoma City.

She attended Zion Lutheran Church in Lahoma, where she was baptized, confirmed and married. Rosalie attended elementary school at Zion Lutheran Church and secondary school at Lahoma. She married her high school sweetheart, Vernon Brakhage, on March 17, 1951. They were blessed with six children: Diana, Jay, Eddie, Gayla, Dale and Robin.

Vernon and Rosalie moved to Kingfisher in 1957. Rosalie raised the children at home while Vernon worked. She made all the clothes for herself, three daughters and mother, Lydia. She also started crocheting and made afghans, stuffed animals and decorative items for family and friends. One constant over the years was Rosalie’s cooking.  Pies, cakes, and cinnamon rolls were a favorite and a variety of cookies were always in the freezer to be served to any visitors. The favorite of her kids, grandkids and many nieces and nephews were the porcupine meatballs she brought to all family gatherings.   Rosalie enjoyed piecing and hand quilting quilts, which she was able to do well into her eighties. Over 100 quilts were given to her family members for Weddings, Christmas and other special occasions.

In 1977, Vernon and Rosalie became co-owners of the Chisholm Trail Skating Rink. They operated it for seven years and former skaters were known to stop by their home to sit and visit with them about their roller skating days.

Those who cherish her memory are their five children, Diana (David) Martin of Edmond, daughter-in-law Susan Brakhage of McKinney, TX, Eddie Brakhage of Edmond, Gayla (David) Heinrichs of Drummond, Dale (Kim) Brakhage of Seminole, and Robin (David) Bailey of Edmond: grandchildren Chris (Lindsey), Kyle (Shae), Kara (Doug), Jason (Monteshia), Bradley (Kimberly), Patrick (Sheree), and Sean (Phil): great-grand children Austin, Dillion, Addison, Katie, Emma, Ethan, Derek, Rebekah, Jayleigh, Maddyn, Kendall and Greta Rosalie. One brother-in-law Charles (Michelle) Brakhage of San Antonio,TX.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Vernon, son Jay, sisters Leola, Luella, Ruby, and Annabel.
