Ronnie John Marek, Sr.
1950 – 2025
Ron Marek, 74, passed away in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and is in the loving arms of the Lord.
He was born in Yuma, Arizona in 1950 to Edmund A. Marek, Sr, and Alice (Waken) Marek. Ron graduated from Enid Memorial High School in 1968, then attended pharmacy school at Southwestern Oklahoma State University. He worked as a pharmacist before joining the inaugural medical school class at Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Following an internship in Phoenix, Arizona, Ron practiced family medicine in Enid, Oklahoma and Wichita, Kansas.
Throughout his life, he was committed to providing compassionate care to his patients.
Ron loved to travel, and he loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren. He frequently took long driving trips, and they were often used as an opportunity to visit more than one of his children.
Ron is survived by his brother, Ed; his sister, Val; four children: Jennifer, Ron John, Tony, and Katie; their spouses; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Edmund; his mother, Alice; and his sister, Sharon.
A memorial service will be held at the Abbey Mausoleum at Rose Hill Burial Park on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at 10:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Oklahoma State University Foundation, for the benefit of the College of Osteopathic Medicine Greater University Fund (https://secure.osugiving.com/s/giving/annual?dsgt=31-22500), would be greatly appreciated.
So sorry to hear of Dr. Marek’s passing. He was a wonderful and caring Physician. He was our family doctor for 30 years. We were so sad when he closed his practice and moved back to Oklahoma. Our thoughts and prayers and sympathies to his entire family. We will forever be grateful for all the wonderful care he gave to our family. He always took time to listen, never rushed and we knew he would do what was best for all of us. His smile was genuine and watched out family grow and always wanted to know how we were all doing in our day to day activities and professions. We are thankful God put Doc’s caring hands in our lives so many years ago. Craig and Glenda Broadbent/Jana/Jessie/Jeris
Our condolences go to the family of Dr Marek. We appreciate the service he provided to the patients, families and staff at Riverside Hospital and Family Practice Clinic in Wichita.
Susie and I first met Ron when we were stationed at Vance AFB in Enid, Oklahoma. Our daughter, Grace, and Tony Marek were dating and it soon became clear they were very serious about each other! Over the many years since, we enjoyed spending time with Ron when he visited Tony, Grace, Zoey and Annie as they traveled around the world with the Air Force. Sharing two wonderful granddaughters gave us special joy. We will definitely miss the occasional Ron Marek visits to Vermont.
