Roger Thomas Shortt

Roger Thomas Shortt, 76, of Edmond, Oklahoma, passed away November 21, 2023 in Oklahoma City, OK.  Roger was born in Richmond, VA, on July 28, 1947, to Edith and James Shortt.

Roger was a graduate of Reynoldsburg, HS in Reynoldsburg, Ohio, and attended Capitol University in Columbus, Ohio.  He served in the U.S. Army.  In August, 1973, he married Judi Duris.  They recently celebrated their 50th anniversary.  Together they raised two wonderful children, Roger Jr., and Kelly.  All 7 grandchildren are from Edmond, Oklahoma:  Collin, Crew, Kayleigh and Kylin Shortt; Morgan, Tatum, and Quaid Goode.  He also had numerous nieces and nephews in Ohio.  In addition to family, Roger’s passions included the Ohio State Buckeyes, golf, and the OKC Thunder.  He always felt blessed for his family and numerous friends and all the opportunities that came his way.

Roger was preceded in death by his  parents, sister, Emily and father-in-law Joe Duris Sr.  He is survived by his wife, Judi, son, Roger and (Julie), daughter, Kelly Goode both of Edmond, Oklahoma; his seven grandchildren: Collin, Crew, Kayleigh, and Kylin Shortt; Morgan, Tatum and Quaid Goode of Edmond; sister, Juanita and (Bob) of Lancaster, Ohio; mother-in-law, Della Duris, Blacklick, Ohio; sisters-in-law, Janet Griffin and (Lew) Gahanna, Ohio; Tammy Duris, Italy; brothers-in-law, Terry Duris and (Jayme) and Joe Duris Jr. and (Gayle) both of Pataskala, Ohio.

A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, December 4, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel, Edmond, OK.

Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 4, 2023 at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel.

I worked with Roger and his family and learned a lot about food business. He was a treasured friend for many years and we will miss him . There are no words to express our sorrow!
