Robert “Robbie” Neil Jones
1976-2021
On Sunday, March 21, 2021, Robbie, loving son and brother passed away at the age of 45. Robbie was born March 1, 1976 in Dallas, Texas. Robbie had a passion for Special Olympics. He loved participating in bowling, basketball and track. He received many medals. He was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Tennessee Titans, Texas Rangers and the Dallas Stars. He also loved Nascar. Robbie enjoyed playing games such as UNO and Connect 4 with his family. Robbie was quick witted and had an infectious smile. He was kind with a spunky spirit.
Due to a childhood illness Robbie was a Special Needs person. Through out his life there were many people who loved and cared for him. He was a cherished member of MHMR of Fort Worth. Robbie participated in job training, such as shredding at ABG Workshop and attended numerous outings with his group home such as going to the movies with other homes and weekly snow cone runs during the summer. Robbie was always sweet and considerate of others. He was very close with his housemates and a few young woman at ABG Workshop. Robbie was a kind and caring person who will truly be missed.
Robbie was preceded in death by his father Jim Jones. He is survived by his mother and stepfather Barbara and Mike Kepsel, sister Kelli Jones and partner Steve Quick, sister Melinda Matthews, brother Matthew Griego. He is also survived by his nephews Tyler Matthews, Christian Matthews and Collin Griego and his nieces Kaitlynn Griego and Lilly Griego. And four great-nieces and two great-nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will he held on May 22, 2021 at 10:00am at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel, 601 S. Kelly Ave., Edmond, Oklahoma. The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to Special Olympics.
