1954-2025

Robert Paul Johnson was born on October 2, 1954, and departed this life on May 7, 2025.
Born to J.L. & Dora “Cricket” Johnson, Sr., Robert grew up in Wynnewood, OK. After graduating from high school in 1972, Robert went to Oklahoma Christian College, graduating in 1976 with a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies & Languages. He later earned a Master of Liberal Arts in Reformation History from the University of Oklahoma in 1991.
While at OCC, Robert met Karen Janeway, and in 1975, they were married. Together, they would minister to churches in Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Texas for the next 45 years, until Karen passed away in 2020. Robert continued to serve as an evangelist until shortly before his death.
Robert loved the Word and dedicated his life to studying it and serving the Kingdom. He touched many lives preaching the Good News, writing articles, teaching classes, and speaking at lectureships.
Robert was preceded in death by his loving wife, Karen and his parents, J.L. & Dora “Cricket“ Johnson, Sr. Those left to honor his memory are daughter Andrea Rieger and husband Randon, son Phillip Johnson and wife Yazmin, and grandchildren Emily, Cadon, Jaxon, and Rylon Rieger. He is also survived by his brother, J.L. Johnson, Jr. and wife Linda, and sister, Nancy Kymes and husband Charles, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and many, many friends.
A memorial service will be held to honor Robert’s memory at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to In Search of the Lord’s Way in Robert’s name.
Robert was an amazing preacher and good man. I have childhood memories of hearing him preach at the church my grandmother’s cousin attended in Dallas. I’m praying for you all

Robert was a wonderful friend and faithful Gospel preacher. Not only did we engage in Gospel efforts together on many occasions, but I often sought his counsel on nuances of the Greek text which he knew so well. We rejoice in his victory of faith, and offer our prayers to God on behalf of all of his family.

If you get a chance in life you may be able to meet someone who is remarkably awesome. As a brother in christ, as a teacher, and friend. So much more. This later time in my life I was fortunate enough to help me understand things and grow more as a Christian and man.
I love you
Robert was a wonderful friend & brother in the Lord. It was a joy to be roommates at O.C.C. Though the miles separated us in adulthood, the memories and bond continued. Love & sympathy to the family.
Robert was a friend and a confident who had a deep understanding of God’s will, the Bible. He was faithful to the Lord and his last wish was to continue to preach and teach to help others find the Way in this dark world. He is dearly missed.
Robert was a great friend and brother in Christ. He was so knowledgeable in scripture and was able to explain passages so clearly by applying his knowledge of Greek.
He is greatly missed by Terry and me, but I know he is now joyous having fought the good fight!
Robert and I met over fifty years ago at Oklahoma Christian. We were suite mates during my senior year. After many years of not touching base, we reconnected several years ago after I moved to Texas. We saw each other a few times but we had hours of chats on Facebook. He was a good friend and a dear brother in Christ. I will miss him, but he has gained the victory.
