Bob died peacefully in his sleep, at home, after an extended illness on August 31, 2018. Bob was born April 10, 1932 in Oklahoma City to Allen Wood Orcutt and Georgina (Gene) Sloane Orcutt Howard.  He was the youngest of five children.

He graduated from Oklahoma Military Academy, Claremore, OK., and  Oklahoma  City University, with a business degree. He served in the United States ARMY and served active duty in Iceland during the Korean War.   He worked for Southwest Bell Telephone and Sears in Oklahoma City.

Bob married Carol “Dee” Fleming on June 15, 1967.  They moved to Irving, Texas where he worked for Uniroyal Tires, JCPenny, Cooper Airmotive and retired from Aviall  as an engine overhaul mechanic. During retirement, Bob and Dee “worked” together, for a time, at the Mountain Man Nut & Fruit Company, in Branson, MO.

Bob was predeceased by his parents Allen and Gene, and step-father John Howard; two brothers and their wives: John Orcutt and wife Ruth, George Orcutt and wife Dorothy, a brother-in-law, Tex Ritter and a son-in-law; Barry Fischer.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Dee Fleming Orcutt; five children: Dale (Patti) Orcutt of Crescent, Don (Chan) Orcutt of Oregon, Debra Fischer of Coyle, OK, Doug (Diane) Spearman  of Texas, Dana (Kenny) Reed of Coyle, OK; eleven grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; two sisters: Sara (Donald) Saulnier and  Martha Ritter and a host of extended family and friends.

Bob loved ice cream and malts from Braums. He enjoyed music of any kind. He always carried a pocket knife, phone, keys to the car, even though he didn’t drive and a bunch of Kleenex in his pockets. He never went out without his hat and sweater. He was a quiet man with not much to say but when he did it meant something. He had a love that never quit and always forgave. A wonderful father and husband that always went the extra mile, without complaint. He was loved by many and will never be forgotten.
A Celebration-of-Life Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, September 8th, 2018, at Matthews Funeral Home  Chapel in Edmond, Oklahoma with Pastor Mark Allen officiating.
Full military honors will be provided by the Oklahoma Honor Guard.

Dad, you will ALWAYS be there, in my “Field Of Dreams”…so that one day, SOME DAY we can play that game of “catch”!

Today I have thought so much of “Birdman.” Several years ago, while we were all on a trip to Washington DC at the Smithsonian, the beautiful birds would somehow flock to Bob. It was just amazing. Everyone around couldn’t help but watch this gentle man attracting God’s creation (which earned him the name of “Birdman.”) I think the sweet birds must have known that Bob was blessed, peaceful, kind and one of God’s very special creations!!!!! Thank you, God, for allowing many of us to enjoy Your blessed Presence through Bob. What a joy to have known you, Bob.

I’m sorry that I won’t be able to attend the service. Mr. Orcutt was such a kind man and always had a smile when I reminded him that I had taught Dale in high school. I know that you all will have lots of good memories to carry you through this difficult time. My sympathy to each family member and especially to Dee.
