Robert “Bob” Plumlee
1926-2018
Robert “Bob” Plumlee was born in Poteau, Oklahoma on August 26, 1926 to Monroe “Doc” and Alma (McDonald) Plumlee. He graduated from Poteau High School then served as a Tech Sergeant in the U.S. Army. Bob attended Northeastern State College in Tahlequah, OK, where he was a member of Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity and received his B.S. degree in 1950.
He married Mary Nell Powell in August 1950. He received his Masters degree at the University of Oklahoma in 1956 and taught in Atoka, OK. He was the Junior High then the High School Principal until 1969. In Atoka, Bob was a member and trustee in the First Presbyterian Church, President of the Atoka Rotary Club and served as President of the District Oklahoma Education Association. The Plumlees moved to Edmond, OK in 1969 where Bob was employed as an auditor for the State Department of Education until his retirement in 1990. Bob was a member of Southern Hills Christian Church in Edmond, where he served several terms as Deacon and Elder. He was named Elder Emeritus in 2002. Bob was a faithful member of Bible Study Fellowship for 15 years. His hobbies were quail hunting and golfing, where he made three holes in one and enjoyed many friendships.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, wife Mary in 2010, brother Bill Plumlee, sister Mary Kathryn McGuffin, grandson Kent Brinkoetter, granddaughter Marissa Plumlee, and son-in-law Dean Brinkoetter. He is survived by four daughters, Janna Brinkoetter, Edmond, OK; Mary Margaret (and Robert) Thacker, Edmond, OK; Carrie (and Wes) Hamilton, Hurst, TX; and Christy (and Brian) Foster, Owasso, OK; one son, Robert (and Kim) Plumlee, Stilwell, KS; eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorials honoring Mr. Plumlee may be made to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation.

Visitation will be 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, August 28th. Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM, Wednesday, August 29th at Matthews Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Memorial Park.
I worked for Dr. Martin for over six years, and Mr. Plumlee was truly my favorite patient! His smile and warmth brightened my day! Mary, you and Jana were such caring daughters to both your mom and dad. You are all in my prayers at this most difficult time. Kathy Rindels
