Richard Marshall (Boz) Thompson
1939 – 2023
In the early morning hours of Oct 3, 2023, Richard Marshall or Boz as many loved to call him, fulfilled his purpose on this earth and was called home. He was welcomed joyfully by a host of family and friends eagerly awaiting his arrival.
All of us who loved Marshall, knew that he was a Godly man. What is a Godly Man? Jesus tells us In Mark 12:30-31: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these.” A Godly man is responsible, a generous servant, has a humble servant heart and continues to grow in the knowledge of God.
Jesus’s commandment above is a beautiful description of Marshall.
Marshall was born in Borger, Texas on May 22, 1939. He was a 1957 graduate of Stinnett High School and graduated in 1965 from West Texas State University in Canyon, with a Degree in Accounting.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Orin, and Hazel Groves Thompson, 2 brothers and their wives, Orin and Reba Thompson, Bob and Anita Thompson, one sister-in- law, Kay Thompson, and one special brother-in-law, Bill Williams.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Karen, two children and their spouses: Rebecca” Becky” and Aaron Kuykendall, Bill and Kelly Thompson. 5 grandchildren: Aliese Stipes and husband Brad, Ryan Kuykendall, Denton, Hazel, and Preston Thompson. 1 great grandson, Theodore Stipes all of Edmond, Oklahoma. Also surviving are brother, Roy” Tuffy” Thompson of Happy, Texas,
sister, Pearl Thompson Williams of Stinnett, Texas and brother, Fred Thompson of Stinnett, Texas. Marshall also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
We are so grateful to God for his promises and the assurance that we all share in knowing that before too long we will meet again for that great reunion in heaven. Thank you, God, for your Mercy, Grace, and Peace, and for the great blessing of having this precious servant of God in each of our lives.
Services will be held Thursday, November 23, 2023, beginning at 10:00am at Stinnett Church of Christ in Stinnett, Texas.
I would appreciate it if your congregation could be made aware of this. Karen Thompson
