Benny “Ray” Green, 79, of Edmond, OK passed away September 1, 2014 with his wife and children at his side.
Ray, a loving father, husband, grandfather and great grandfather, is survived by his wife Betty of 57 years, son Van (Wendy) Green, daughter Lynn (Richard) Horton, sister Ann Love, grandchildren Cacey, Rachel, Haley, Mandy, Michael and beloved great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Ray was a gentle man who always greeted you with a smile, a hug for the ladies and a warm handshake for the men. In 1957 he met his soul mate Betty and married her within three months. Their marriage was a magnificent journey which brought out his greatest traits — an inspirational commitment to the sanctity of marriage, a fierce sense of responsibility to support and care for his family, an insatiable quest for new experiences and a contagious, exciting sense of adventure.
Laughter followed Ray as he played with his children and grandchildren, as he told stories of travelling the world with Betty, and as he pulled everyone into his love of gardening, fishing, water-skiing, beach going, and simply living life to the fullest.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents Richard Lee and Myrtie Lee Hayes Green, and his brothers John W. Green and William Raymond Green.
A service will be held in Georgia in the fall. The family asks that if you would like to remember Ray that you make donations to Hospice of Oklahoma County or the INTEGRIS Hospice House. The family is grateful Ray spent his final days being tenderly cared for by very special Hospice caregivers and Dr. Waddah Nassar.
