Ray Friesen

friesen, rayRay Friesen was born to John and Irene Friesen on June 6, 1929 in Custer County and entered his heavenly home on December 7, 2013. Ray served four years in the Air Force and felt honored to serve his country. After his service he then attended Southwestern State College where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics. He married Alma Doerksen on June 22, 1958 and together they had four children. Ray held several positions including office manager for a construction business, owner and operator of a sandblasting business, and a feed store. After retiring, he worked as a custodian for the Edmond Public School Systems. At an early age Ray accepted Jesus as his Savior and was baptized in the Corn Mennonite Brethren Church. Ray devoted his life to Christ first and then his family. He especially loved travelling with his wife Alma on Christian cruises. Ray received two miraculous life-giving healings which gave him an opportunity to serve Christ and enjoy his family longer. Ray is survived by his wife Alma of 55 years; his four children and spouses, Alvin and Kristin Friesen, James and Kris Friesen, David and Pam Friesen, and Joyce and David Barfield. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, Misti and Brandon Draper, Ryan and Jessica Friesen, Ben Friesen, Bridgette Heinrichs, Sarah and Alexandre Dablemont, Chad Friesen, Jake and Alyssa Friesen, Breann Barfield and Jennifer Friesen, and three great grandchildren, Ellie and Wyatt Draper and Raelynn Friesen. Ray is also survived by four sisters and many nieces and nephews. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, two sisters, and one grandson. Funeral Services are 10:00am Friday December 13, 2013 at the Memorial Road Mennonite Brethren Church Edmond, Oklahoma.
