Randolph “Randy” Lynn Hampton
1947 – 2023
Randolph Lynn Hampton was born on February 1st, 1947, in New Orleans, Louisiana to Blanche Holmes. Blanche returned to Edmond, Oklahoma and married Carl Hampton when Randy was five years old. Randy grew up in Edmond, Oklahoma where he attended school, graduating from Edmond Memorial High School. While in high school, Randy helped Carl work the very large family garden. Randy was an extremely hard worker and began working to buy his own clothes and his first car, which he loved, a 1967 GTO. After high school, Randy went to California and began working at a grocery store. He returned to Oklahoma a year later and went to work at Central Fixtures. When he returned from California, his best friend Gene Hilburn introduced him to the love of his life, Judy Hedgecock. They met, fell in love, and married at First Methodist Church on December 8, 1967. While working at Central Fixtures, he began learning woodwork where he met Ed Heckathorne. They left Central Fixtures to do high rise construction and helped build the Southwestern Telephone high rise in Oklahoma City. Randy and Ed went on to start their own company doing custom cabinetry and trim work at which Randy excelled. They eventually went on to re-model Sonic Drive-Ins in several states. He and Ed loved to listen to KQCV and learn from all the great Bible teachers while traveling and working. Randy eventually went to work with Elkins Telecom building radio towers. Before retiring, he was a project manager and did large commercial jobs. Upon retiring, he got to help build his daughter’s dream home, where he and Judy were able to live with Steve, Stefanie, Cade, and Morgan. During this time, he was able to be a faithful, and Godly example to his grandchildren.
Randy’s first love was The Lord and he faithfully served teaching Sunday School and served as an elder and deacon at Emmanuel Southern Baptist and Fairview Baptist. He taught Sunday School, verse by verse through the whole Bible, creating his own lessons weekly. He was faithful to call all his Sunday School members all week long to check on them and pray with and over them. Randy loved studying eschatology and would spend hours with his family and friends discussing the Bible. He faithfully shared The Lord with all who crossed his path; from the waiter in the restaurant to the sub-contractor, he was helping to complete his construction projects. Above all, Randy was a prayer warrior. His family and friends knew they could count on him for prayer, and he was the first person many would call on when they needed prayer. Anyone who knew Randy, knew his love for his Savior and how he longed to enter the presence of his Lord and Savior.
He was preceded in death by his younger sister Sonya, mother Blanche Hampton, father Carl Hampton, and sister Carolyn Green.
James 5:16: The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
A homegoing celebration will be held Monday, March 27, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at the Faith Bible Church of Edmond.

Randy was a true friend. I am going to miss the time we worked together. It was always a trip back in time when we spoke. You never doubted where Randy stood with his Lord. He love Jesus and was eager to share him with others.
Randy I will see you later when we meet again with our Lord.
Bro. Randy will be greatly missed. We always loved being i. His classes and the sweet fellowship. He must be rejoicing as he sits in the presence of his Savior! Until we meet again..
So many things I could tell about Randy, so many conversations about the Lord that he and David had. So much love and laughter when the four of us got together, good Christian fellowship, family of God.
Randy was the most thorough Sunday School teacher I ever had. God led me to a Brother in Christ that I always wished I had as a blood brother. I was Blessed by such a devoted teacher. Til we meet again dear man- Angela
The three great mentors of my life were Roy Whittington, David Goff and Randy Hampton. I could never express what an impact Randy had on my life. He was alway quick to point out to me what a fortunate man I am by saying to me pretty much every time we got together, “Son, you are one of the most over married man I know.” I will miss him.
Randy will be greatly missed by all. I remember one of the first times I came to visit at the new home, he was quick to ask me what my favorite verse in the Bible is. I told him that it changes, but for that day it was Joshua 1:9. “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” We all know where Randy is—with the Lord his God. So for those family and friends here on earth who still await the Lord’s return, be strong, be courageous because Jesus is with you every step of the way. Love you guys.
We loved Randy. He was always there for you anytime. Love you all.
Judy, sorry to hear of Randy’s passing. Keeping you and the family in my thoughts and prayers. Hugs , Gena Mahaffey Menhusen.
