Ralph O. Smeltzer was born in Apollo, PA. on 1/12/1917 he died on 12/18/2015 at the Saint Luke’s Hospice House in Kansas City, MO.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Shirley Weiss Smeltzer and a son Ernest Paul Smeltzer. He is survived by sons Lynn Smeltzer (Katrina), Harve Smeltzer (Debi) and daughter Jill Brothers. Also by seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Ralph was a successful home builder for decades in Indiana, Pa. He was very proud to also have built 13 churches. After retiring he and Shirley moved to Edmond, Oklahoma (1988-2009).
They were active members of the Edmond Church of Christ. Ralph lived with his son in Raymore, MO the last seven years of his life.
He lived a full life with many wonderful accomplishments and touching many lives. But as a family we find comfort in knowing he is with “his beloved Shirley” again.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 21, 2015 at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Gracelawn Cemetery, Edmond, OK.
