Phyllis J. Lindley

1934 – 2015

Lindley, PhyllisPhyllis Lindley of Edmond, Oklahoma, peacefully passed away in her sleep on September 11, 2015. She was born May 17, 1934, in Afton, Oklahoma, the oldest child of Ruby and Joseph Duncan.

She grew up in Miami and graduated from Miami High School in 1952. She married Dallas Graham, also from Miami, and had three children, Kathy, Barbara and Dale.

The family moved to Wichita, Kansas for a few years and then to Edmond. While in Edmond, Phyllis worked many years at The Edmond Sun and Trend Construction. She married Harold Lindley in 1977 and moved to Tulsa where they spent many happy years. They enjoyed hours together fishing and boating and eventually moved to Lake Fork, Texas. They shared a passion for OSU sports, following the football team to every bowl game they played.

Phyllis loved the arts – she loved to sing and had a beautiful voice. She was a prolific artist and created many beautiful pieces treasured by her family and friends. She loved to garden and her green thumb, combined with her sense of garden design, resulted in gardens so spectacular that people often stopped and asked her if they could tour her yard. Phyllis was an excellent cook and her generous spirit ensured there was always enough food in the pot for to feed any friend who happened to be around.

She is going to be greatly missed by her sister Rose McCracken, daughter Kathy Kennedy and son-in-law Mark, daughter Barbara Schaller and son-in-law Hank, and daughter-in-law Kelly Graham; grandchildren Karly Meadows and husband John, Will Kennedy and wife Ericka, Rob Schaller and wife Abby, Madeline Schaller, Aaron Griggs, and Ashley Worley and her husband Josh; and great-grandchildren Haden, Dallas and Lindley Ayers, Dillon Griggs, Mark and Abby Kennedy, Ava and Maya Worley and Alyssa and Chance Meadows. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruby Duncan Nichols, her father Joseph Duncan, her step-father R.C. Nichols, husband Harold Lindley, son Dale Graham, and brother Roger Duncan.

The family will host a visitation Monday, September 14, 2015, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Matthews Funeral Home, 601 S. Kelly, Edmond, Oklahoma. Private burial services will be held for family and close friends Tuesday, September 16, 2015.
