Paul Lyman Robinson
1947-2019
Paul Lyman Robinson, age 72, entered peacefully into his eternal rest in the arms of our loving God, on December 30, 2019. A beloved husband and father, he was also a proud and doting grandfather. Paul was born on April 9, 1947, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Benjamin and Alma Robinson. He was drafted into the US Army in August 1966 as a private, during this time he served in Germany, Korea, and Vietnam retiring in 1991 as a Lt. Colonel. Paul joined the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics in 1991. He retired as Agent In Charge from the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics in 2015. During his time in the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and after his retirement, he served as one of the Co-founders of the Law Enforcement Thermographers’ Association and continued as an executive board member. On December 7, 1968, Paul married the love of his life, Sandra Ferguson. On August 7, 1986, Paul was blessed with the birth of his son, Kevin Paul who was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Paul and Sandra attended Life Church and loved their Life Group. In retirement, Paul spent many days on the golf course playing with friends, his two senior mens groups, and was always up for an impromptu round with his son. Paul was preceded in death by his parents Benjamin and Alma Robinson. He is survived by his wife, Sandra, his son Kevin, daughter-in-law, MaryBeth and grandson, Brandtley. Other organizations: Boy Scouts of America, Senior Men’s golf groups at Golf Club of Edmond and Kickingbird Golf Course, Adjunct and Junior Vice Commander for the Oklahoma City Military Chapter of the World Wars. Services will be Monday January 6th at 10:00 a.m. at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Gracelawn Cemetery, with military honors. Viewing will be Sunday the 5th from 12-8 p.m. with family greeting friends from 5-7 p.m.
Sandy, so sorry to hear about Paul’s passing. May the Lord bless and comfort you and your family. It’s been almost eleven years since Mary passed away. I still miss her so much. Will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Paul was one of the nicest and caring people I’ve ever known. He and I met when I worked for the Oklahoma State Boar of Pharmacy and he at OBNDD. We often saw each other at Life Church and other places over the years after retirement. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family for this great, God loving man who I admired greatly.

Sandy and Kevin, we were stunned to hear of Paul’s death. We know how much this hurts and we sympathize with your sorrow and sadness. You and Paul and Kevin were some of the very first people to welcome us to Edmond 24 years ago. Eric and Kevin become fast childhood friends so seeing you and Paul was frequent and very enjoyable. Paul was an excellent mentor to boys and teenagers and had a very positive influence on our son Eric. We will always be grateful to Paul for that influence. Paul was an excellent leader of men. Personally I always admired Paul’s calm way of discussing a subject and enjoying his well constructed thoughts. When we had differences of opinion it was always a constructive experience. He had a great smile and also a subtle and great sense of humor. Paul was such a good volunteer and he always was helping others. For our family there is no better tribute to a good man like Paul then one who was a dedicated and very loving family man, great co- worker and a man who served his country in a military capacity for years. Before our oldest son Sean joined the Army National Guard at only 17 years old, he consulted with Paul about his military experience. Paul always found time to listen and discuss with those who sought his wisdom. The Williams family want to express our deepest sympathy to Sandy and Kevin and Paul’s entire family he loved so dearly. We will miss Paul greatly, and we will always remember him and his kind heartened ways. May God bless the Robinson family with peace in the coming days.

I was sadden to hear that Paul passed away. He was always there when we needed him to do a drug presentation for the DARE Program. I just had to call him and he was there. Over the years he helped us training DARE Officers from 30 different states and 7 foreign countries. Paul was a great presenter and an even greater friend. Everyone always enjoyed his presentations. He just had away of connecting with the officers no matter what state they were from. He always had a joke. Loved playing music to get pumped up for his presentations and he had a killer smile for everyone. We were honored to present him the DARE Life Time Acheivement Award for all his work with the program. My heart goes out to you and the family. God Bless. Lori Swanson, Oklahoma DARE.
