Patricia Maureen Angier “Patti”
PATRICIA MAUREEN ANGIER was born on March 28, 1958 to a loving family in Utica, in upstate New York. Her father was Francis Thomas Angier and her mother, Judith Louise McLoughlin. In early 1965, when Patti was 7 years old, the family moved to Oklahoma for a job at the Tinker Air Force Base for her father. They made their home in Edmond near the current Memorial High School where Patti’s mom still lives.
Patti excelled through the Edmond public schools and graduated from Edmond Memorial High School in 1976 on the National Honor Society. She set a high standard for her siblings who would follow behind her in school with teachers having high expectations of them because of Patti’s accomplishments.
Following her graduation Patti lived in Guthrie and then Norman for more than a decade before moving back to Edmond.
Patti was a selfless, kind, loving and giving person. She loved everyone and would do anything for her kids and grandkids. She loved animals and would often take in strays to feed.
She loved the outdoors and being on the water and traveling to the beach when she could. She enjoyed talking and connecting to people and met many strangers through random conversations.
Unfortunately, Patti was diagnosed with MS in 1998 which made life much harder on her. In recent years she also battled with cancer and many other aliments in recent months. She suffered greatly due these complications but continued to fight them and didn’t ask for much. Through all the hardships, she managed to keep her sense of humor and looked for ways to help her kids or take care of her grandkids as possible. Patti lived in Guthrie for the last few years of her life and had the support of her loving family in Edmond until the very end, specifically Laurie, her devoted sister, who was by her side constantly in the past year.
Patti passed on to the world above on Sunday, June 7 at about 6:15 p.m. minutes after the family had a chance to say good bye to her as they rotated through her room at the Mercy Health Center in Oklahoma City.
She is survived by her children, Tye McHone of Guthrie, Teeter McHone of Wyoming, Tommy McHone of Moore and Tanna Angier of Oklahoma City. Her mother, Judy Angier of Edmond and her siblings Fran Angier of Baytown, Texas, Keith Angier, Laurie Hanneman, Chris and Mike Angier of Edmond and their spouses. She had ten grandchildren who she loved dearly along with many other nieces and nephews.
Patti will be remembered for her generosity, kind heart and love of life and humanity.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 12, 2020 at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel.
