Born in Edmond, Oklahoma to Carl and Oleeva Albrecht. She graduated from Edmond High School in 1949 and from Central State College in 1952 with a BS in Education. She married Henry E Koenig in April and the Air Force took them to Florida, Washington DC and Japan. They returned to Oklahoma City where they started a family. Her children were very important to her and she knew how to make each one feel special. She was known for her wonderful meals and generous hospitality. Pat loved to travel and always had her bag packed and ready to go.

Pat was a people person. She touched many lives in her work and in her church. In 1975 she began a 2nd career in the Office of Personnel Management helping to place many people in jobs and making lifelong friends. She retired in 1993. Henry died after 45 years of marriage. In September of 2000 she married Fred Hicks. They both loved to travel, attend plays and concerts and to serve their church. Pat loved her church. In her younger years she played piano for the Melody Choir, sang in the Adult Choir, taught Sunday school, served as President of the Women’s Society of Christian Service and attended Lay Speaker Training. As her faith continued to grow she attended First United Methodist Church Bible Studies, United Methodist Women’s Mary Martha Circle, the Emmanuel Class, participated in Whiz Kids, Project Transformation and helped with many service projects.

She was a member of the Red Hat Honey Bees and attended breakfast every Thursday with a lively group of friends.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Henry and her Son-in-law John Bowles. She is survived by her husband Fred Hicks, daughter Karlyn Bowles, sons Henry E Koenig Jr., Chris Koenig and his wife Jill, and Kurt Koenig, daughter Beverly Thomas and her husband Brent, Grandchildren Kayleigh Bowles, Sherry Treadway and husband Jason, Sarah Koenig, Benton Koenig, Kathleen Thomas and Matthew Thomas, and great grandchild Lily Treadway, her sister Virginia Childers and husband John and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Pat-wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt-We will greatly miss you and love you!

The services will be held 2 pm Friday, September 26, 2014 at New Covenant United Methodist Church, 2700 S Boulevard, Edmond, Oklahoma.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church Edmond, Oklahoma.
