Pamala Stockwell

Pamala Joy Stockwell

1950 – 2023

Pam was the youngest of three sisters born into a bi-vocational Pastor’s home.  Her Father worked as a custodian within the local school system where he received a salary and benefits for his family; and his work hours allowed him the opportunity to minister and build his congregation.  In his 30+ years of ministry he never received a salary because he always chose a small congregation to build up; and one that could not afford to pay his salary.  He and Pam’s mother often supported the church financially.  Her mother always had a garden and raised chickens to stretch the family budget.  It was in those early years that she learned valuable lessons that she would use in the future with her own family.

In 1967 she met and married the love of her life.  She and Steve were married 55 years and had two children, Christal, and Steve Jr., four grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren who knew her as Nana.

She worked outside the home most of their married life, first helping support them as Steve attended college.  Then was a stay-at-home Mom until their children started school.  Throughout her career she worked mostly in the finance and administrative areas in small business, corporate and educational fields.

At one point Pam and Steve served as the Senior Adult Ministers at their church.  That group became known as “SAMs” and Pam planned the theme of the monthly potluck lunches that coincided with the season of the year.  She always made extra so she could send each SAM home with an extra meal.  She also planned outings like fall color tours and horse-drawn hayrides.  She loved their SAMs and hated to leave them when she and Steve moved.

Pam was known for her quiet personality and soft-spoken manner.  She loved to cook and bake for family and friends.  She would bake specialty items to share and was known to deliver to neighbors.  Her favorite time of year was Christmas and she started decorating inside and outside their home and her office at work just after Thanksgiving.  The spirit of Christmas is Faith, Hope and Love.  Pam had the heart of Christmas year round.

Her quiet and reserved personality stood in strong contrast to her deep faith in our Eternal God.  There was nothing quiet about her position of right and wrong and helped lead the spiritual lives of her family.

She has been welcomed to her new home in Heaven where she has been united with family and friends including a baby, she miscarried.  In her final days she talked about holding “Our Baby” when she got to Heaven.

There is a part missing in the hearts of those that knew and loved her.

  2. I pray Pamala’s family takes comfort in knowing that though she will be missed her on Earth, she is now home, happy, and whole with her Lord and Savior and those who went before. I pray they continue to be comforted in the upcoming months, as they continue on without her.
