Otto Aldean Woodward
1947-2024

Otto was born June 24, 1947 to Montreal and John R. Woodward in Marianna, FL. “Otto is spelled the same backward and forward” is what he would tell everyone he met. Otto quietly and peacefully slipped away at the age of 76 on January 8, 2024.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Montreal and John R. Woodward, grandparents, Lucille and Otto L. Gilbert and Lillian Mae Woodward and John S. Woodward. He is survived by his sisters, Jeanie W. Griffin of Edmond, OK and Mary W. Knudson (Leo) of Colorado Springs, CO; nephews, Richard L. McCubbin (Vicki) of Edmond, OK, Paul Knudson (Tosha) of Pueblo, CO; niece, Lorrie Atencio (Chris) of Aurora, CO; great nephew, Ethan L. McCubbin; great nieces, Amber Greek, Devynn Evans, Breanna Knudson, Cassidy Knudson and Claire McCubbin; great-great nieces, Naeli Evans and Haley Day and a special friend, Fred Yarborough of Savannah, GA. Otto and Fred were great friends and often introduced themselves as “brothers.” They enjoyed competing in Special Olympics together, weight lifting, bowling, and Bocce, where they received many trophies and medals.
Otto earned his high school diploma while working at several well known restaurants in the Tampa/ St. Petersburg area where he lived for 15 years. He returned to Marianna, FL to live with his parents after an illness where he was unable to work for a while and he was very active in community and church activities.
After the death of his mother in 1993, he moved to Savannah, GA to live with his oldest sister, Jeanie. In 2012, Jeanie and Otto moved to Oklahoma to be near Jeanie’s son and his family. Again, Special Olympics, bowling, and the Joyful Sound Choir were on the weekly schedule. He worked at the EARC Thrift Stores for several years and loved going to work and being with his friends.
Otto enjoyed going out to eat, especially with two dear friends, Annetta Nelson and Winnie Gatewood. He loved catfish dinners and the ladies teased him about always wanting to go for catfish dinners.
Many thanks to the staff at St. Ann’s Skilled Nursing and Integris Hospice House who were so kind and lovingly cared for Otto.
