Oleta May Ayers
1925 – 2023
“Heaven’s getting sweeter all the time!” Oleta May Ayers, 97, was born August 8, 1925, near White Deer, Texas and passed away in Edmond, Oklahoma on May 6, 2023. Oleta was the daughter of Alvin (A.G.) Stamps and Adelia (Dilly) Cummings Stamps. She grew up with five brothers and five sisters; two other sisters died in infancy.
She married (Glen) Vance Ayers on October 30, 1944, in Panhandle, Texas, and the two were life-long companions for 73 years. Five children were born to Vance and Oleta: Glenda Riley, Nellie Ayers, Dale Ayers (wife Susan), Ruth Wire (husband Jimmie), and G.V. Ayers (wife Sara). Throughout that time, the two of them were nearly inseparable. Oleta was preceded in death by her husband, Vance (2018) and eldest daughter, Glenda (2020).
Grandma ‘Leta loved to play dominoes, work puzzles, garden, and sing and laugh with her 16 grandchildren and 34 (soon to be 35) great-grandchildren. She has 2 great-great-grandchildren (and 2 more on the way).
Oleta pieced and quilted hundreds of quilts and blankets, made thousands of “Momma Dolls” and “Good-Babies” and numerous memory quilts out of clothing pieces from loved ones.
Oleta was a long-time member of the Church of Christ and lived for many years in Yukon and El Reno, Oklahoma.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, May 11 from 1:00-8:00 p.m.
Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 12 at Matthews Funeral Home in Edmond. A 2:00 p.m. burial to follow at Red Rock Cemetery in Calumet, OK.

What a special lady! I know she is smiling brightly hugging and visiting with the love of her life and Glenda once again. I pray for you all during this time.
