Norma Faye Muno

Muno, Norma

Norma Faye Muno passed away at the age of 77 on December 23, 2017, following a long, brave battle with Alzheimer’s. Norma, the only child of W.T. and Helen (Hart) Simpson, Jr., was born January 5, 1940, in Drumright, OK. While growing up she enjoyed spending time with grandparents, attending school, going to the lake, fishing and camping. Upon graduating Henryetta High School in 1958, Norma began a Secretarial Training Course at Oklahoma State Tech in Okmulgee, OK. While there, she met and fell in love with Richard Carl Muno, a Commercial Art student. They were married on October 14, 1960. She worked almost five years at Independent Life & Accident Insurance Company as a ecretary and cashier while Richard worked on a career in the museum field. When Richard left the Thomas Gilcrease Museum in Tulsa, OK, to join the National Cowboy Hall of Fame & Western Heritage Center in OKC in 1965, Norma joined him as the Executive Secretary at the newly opened western museum. She left this position in June 1968 two months shy of the birth of her daughter, Iris. She remained a stay-at-home mother until 1980 when her son, Will, began school. At this time, Norma began working for Edmond Public Schools in the Food Service Department. This allowed her to work the same school schedule as her children which she did until 1997 when she transferred to the Edmond Public School Transportation Department as a school bus aide.

Norma’s life has been one filled with family, friends, art, antiques, travel and adventure. She loved books, history, attending Native American pow-wows and being a supportive wife and mother. Norma never met a stranger; she enjoyed socializing and her trademark laughter was easily recognized. She lived a Christian life, and her joyous spirit will be missed greatly by her family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by her daughter Iris Muno Jordan, and son and daughter-in-law Will and Summer Muno and grandchildren Pacie, Kylie and Addison Muno all of Edmond, OK. Also surviving are extended family and many friends.

A family graveside service is scheduled for 1:30 p.m., Wednesday 12/27/2017 at Gracelawn Cemetery, Edmond, OK. Vitiation will be from 9am- 12pm on Wednesday. A celebration of life will be held at a later date in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her memory to First Baptist Church, Edmond, OK.
