Nelda Ann Kobs
1940-2023
Nelda Ann (Garton) Kobs was born November 22, 1940 to Ray and Veda Garton, at their home in Mountain View, Oklahoma. She passed peacefully on July 13, 2023 with her children by her side.
Nelda grew up in Mountain View on the family farm, helping daily with the chores before and after school. She attended Oakdale school before finishing up at Mountain View High School. She was an excellent athlete and participated in basketball, softball, volleyball and track. After her games, she changed into her cheerleader uniform and cheered for the boys. After high school, Nelda attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma.
After school, Nelda married Joe Kobs and they had 2 children, which she was the most proud of – Kelly and Keri. She was a stay at home mom while the kids grew up and took them both to all their athletic events. She was their #1 fan. After the kids graduated high school, Nelda started working at Yukon National Bank as a teller and then a loan secretary. She was very much a people person and loved the interactions with her co-workers and customers. She had such a fun loving spirit and loved to laugh with others. Nelda also worked as a medical receptionist later in life.
Nelda was the most happy when all of her family got together and especially most recently with the addition of a new great-granddaughter, Caroline. She truly loved her little “baby girl.” Nelda loved watching sports, especially the Oklahoma City Thunder. She also loved Oklahoma State and Oklahoma football.
Nelda was preceded in death by her mother and father, Veda and Ray Garton and her brother Joe Garton. She is survived by her son, Kelly Kobs and wife Stacie; daughter Keri Kobs; grandson Brandon Kobs and wife Samantha; grandson Kory Kobs and wife Ali; and great-granddaughter Caroline.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 20, 2023 at Mountain View Cemetery in Mountain View, Oklahoma.

Nelda will be deeply missed
by me and so many.
She was so full of life and always brightened a room when she walked in.
I will miss seeing her and enjoying our conversations at the salon.
Nelda was always so positive, loving, kind, funny and full of wisdom.
I am so thankful for every minute I got to spend with her.
I know you are flying with Angel’s
