Naomi Harp

1928 – 2024
Naomi Grace (Beyer) Harp of Edmond, OK died September 23, 2024. She was born August 19, 1928, in Drummond, OK to Otto and Grace (Bealer) Beyer. She attended Waukomis, OK schools from age 10 and graduated from Waukomis High School in 1946. Naomi also attended Phillips University where she met and married Cecil Harp on December 21, 1947. They were blessed with 3 children: Linda born in 1950, Charles born in 1958 and Robert born in 1961. They were divorced in 1976.
She was baptized at age 8 at the First Christian Church in Waukomis, OK. She was a member at the various Christian Churches where they lived, and a choir member participating in many activities of the church. An active longtime member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Edmond, OK, until health problems occurred in recent years. A love of music afforded her much happiness, both in church and community activities.
She was employed at Mutual Federal Savings & Loan, and the OKC branch of the Federal Reserve Bank during the 1970’s. She retired in 1996 after 15 years with Liberty Bank in OKC, OK.
She is survived by her much-loved children: Linda (Harp) Smith Darnell of Edmond, OK, Chuck and Cindy Harp of Loveland, CO, Rob, and Pam Harp of Edmond, OK. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Leanna (Smith) and Eric Bosarge of Lexington, KY, Miranda Harp of Edgewater, CO, Chris and Jennifer Harp of Woodstock, GA, and Macinzie and Alyx of Conley, AR. As well as Great Grandchildren: Kaitlynn and Mallory Bosarge, and Carver, Carmen, and Carina Harp.
Also, a special niece, Rita Sawyer and 3 nephews, Warren K., Wayne and Melvin Beyer and their families, and many other relatives and friends. Naomi was preceded in death by her parents, her stepfather Robert DeWeese, 2 sisters, Wanda Beyer and Helen Ashby and husband Robert, brother Warren Beyer and wife Doris, and sons-in-law, Floyd L. Smith, and Stanley Ronald Darnell.
A private graveside service was held at Waukomis Cemetery in Waukomis, OK.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 9, 2024, beginning at 3:00 p.m. at First Christian Church in Edmond, OK. Livestreaming will be available at https://www.fccedmond.org/harp
I met Naomi when I first moved to Edmond late in 1981. She has been a good friend ever since. Even though we didn’t see as much of each other after we began to get older, I will miss her very much. She was a wonderful person.
Her husband Cecil was my elementary teacher in Medford Oklahoma. What a gracious Lady.
